About

Hello, my name is Timo Heuer. I write as a freelance journalist and also organize events with a Web 2.0 focus — for example Lunch 2.0 (which is currently taking place in four big cities in Germany), BarCamp Hamburg and BarCamp Hannover.
I have already been an intern at two completely different companies: At a natural gas company and at Deister-Leine-Zeitung, my local newspaper.
I live in Barsinghausen, 20 km southwest of Hanover (the city with the world’s largest exhibition ground, famous for CeBIT and Expo 2000).
At the moment, I am attending Realschule, but will be changing to Fachoberschule (which is a College of Further Education). Hopefully, I will graduate with Fachhochschulreife and get the chance to go to Fachhochschule (that’s the highest type of school besides university in Germany).
Complimenting school at Fachoberschule, I will be doing an internship for one year, starting this August. The company I have chosen for this is located in beautiful Expo Plaza, which “has been turned into Hanover’s new centre of information technology, design, media and arts” (according to Wikipedia). The company is called T3N. It’s the world’s first print magazine about TYPO3.
May 2008, while still attending Realschule, I did another internship in Hamburg - the most beautiful city in Germany, in my opinion. The company is called achtung! kommunikation and it is one of Germany’s leading PR agencies. I was focused on Social Media PR and working with costumers in that industry.
I am deeply integrated into the German blogosphere and my travels help me to make new contacts. There are more events than many people from outside of Germany think. We have a strong BarCamp culture and lots of classic conferences too.
I enjoy going to conferences — also unconferences and fairs. If you want to know more about my upcoming and past conferences, switch to my German blog’s page for it. If you want me to attend your conference, just drop me a line.
If you want to connect, that’s where I’ll show you some of the possibilities: How to connect.
